What is Cosmetic Brow Tattooing?

Brow tattooing is a permanent cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the shape, fullness, and definition of your eyebrows. Using advanced techniques, pigment is delicately implanted into the skin to create a soft, natural-looking effect that complements your facial features.

Over time, the pigment will fade due to natural skin regeneration, lifestyle factors, and sun exposure. Results typically last between 1-10 years, with most clients opting for a colour refresh every 12-24 months.

What Are Ombré Brows?

Ombré brows are a cosmetic tattoo technique that creates a soft, shaded effect resembling a perfectly filled-in brow. This technique involves layering pigment to achieve a gradient look—lighter at the front and gradually darkening towards the tail. Ombré brows enhance natural features by providing a defined, polished look that mimics the appearance of professional makeup, making them ideal for clients who desire long-lasting, low-maintenance brows.

Our Pigments & Safety Standards

The pigments used in our brow tattooing procedures are high-quality, vegan, and cruelty-free. They are free from heavy metals and nickel, ensuring a safe and skin-friendly experience. Pigment selection is carefully tailored based on your skin tone, hair colour, and personal preferences.

We use sterile, single-use tools and follow strict hygiene and safety protocols to provide a clean and professional service.

UNDERSTANDING ‘TOUCH-UPS

Touch-up sessions are a vital part of the brow tattooing process and are not considered optional - they are essential for achieving your final, long-lasting results.

Why Are Touch-Ups Needed?

Cosmetic tattooing is a two-step process. After your initial appointment, your skin will naturally go through a healing phase. During this time, your body may push out some pigment, and areas may fade or heal unevenly. A touch-up session allows your artist to:

  • Fill in any areas where pigment may have faded or didn’t retain fully

  • Make minor adjustments to shape, symmetry, or colour

  • Reinforce the pigment to ensure long-term retention

When Should I Book My Touch-Up?

Touch-ups are recommended 6–12 weeks after your initial appointment. This gives your skin enough time to fully heal before more pigment is added. Appointments booked before the 6-week mark may interfere with the healing process.

What If I Skip the Touch-Up?

While your brows may still look good after the first session, skipping the touch-up can lead to:

  • Uneven or patchy brows

  • Faster fading

  • Shorter overall pigment longevity

Skipping the touch-up also means your results won’t be considered “complete,” and any future adjustments may require more extensive work and costs.

Does the Touch-Up Hurt?

Most clients find the touch-up appointment quicker and more comfortable than the initial session. Since less pigment needs to be deposited and the area is already mapped, it’s usually a smoother experience.

Is Another Touch-Up Needed Later?

Most clients won’t need another touch-up until their 12–24 month colour refresh. However, everyone's skin is different—some clients may require a third session (called a “perfection session”) depending on factors like skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

Appointment Time Estimate
As this is a new service, we ask for your understanding that your appointment may take anywhere between 4 to 6 hours. This allows the artist to take their time, ensuring the best possible outcome without rushing.

The consultation & pre-draw is the most time-consuming part, as we carefully design your customised brow shape. The actual tattooing process takes about half the time compared to the pre-draw.
Your patience = flawless brows!

Consultation & Mapping

Your brows are thoughtfully designed and mapped based on your unique facial features, bone structure, and natural hair growth. This is a collaborative process where adjustments can be made to ensure you’re completely happy with the shape before we begin tattooing.

Your consultation and brow mapping are included and completed on the day of your tattoo appointment.
If you’d prefer to have your consultation and mapping done on a separate day, this can be arranged for an additional fee of $149. This fee is non-refundable and not credited toward your tattoo service if you choose to rebook.

Important Note: If your mapping is completed on a separate day, please understand that the design may not be 100% identical on the day of your tattoo due to slight natural changes in your skin or brows. The final pre-draw completed on the day of your tattoo will be the approved shape used for your procedure.

Optional Brow Shaping Prior to Tattoo:
If you’d like to see how your brow shape looks before committing to your ombré brow tattoo, you’re welcome to book a separate brow shaping appointment prior. This can include a dye, wax, or a combination of both.
To save time, this appointment can also be combined with your in-salon consultation.

Pigment Selection

The perfect shade will be carefully selected based on your skin tone, hair colour, and personal preferences to ensure the most flattering and natural-looking result. We will also take into account factors such as undertones and how the pigment will heal over time, providing you with a customised shade that enhances your features beautifully.

Anesthetics (Numbing Gel)

Topical anesthetic is optional and can be purchased separately to help minimise discomfort during your brow tattoo session. This specially compounded gel is designed for use on broken skin and can significantly reduce sensitivity throughout the procedure.

  • Cost: Approximately $25–$40 (price may vary slightly depending on the pharmacy).

  • Where to Get It: The gel must be ordered through a compounding pharmacy before your appointment.

  • Instructions Provided: Full ordering and collection instructions will be sent once your booking has been confirmed and approved.

  • Use is Optional: While many clients find the procedure tolerable without it, numbing is available if preferred for added comfort.

Before & After Care

Before Your Appointment:
To ensure the best possible outcome, please follow these simple steps leading up to your brow tattoo appointment:

  • Pregnancy: Unfortunately, we cannot perform the procedure if you are breastfeeding, pregnant, or planning a pregnancy soon.

  • Avoid blood thinners: Refrain from consuming alcohol, fish oil, caffeine, or blood thinners like Aspirin or Ibuprofen 48 hours before your appointment. This will help minimise any bleeding.

  • Ensure your brows are healthy: We can't perform the treatment if you have blemishes, moles, sunburn, or active irritation around the brow area.

  • waxing/threading: Avoid waxing or threading your brows for at least 7+ days before tattooing.

  • Botox or Fillers: If you've recently had Botox or dermal fillers, please wait two weeks before or after your appointment.

  • Avoid certain skincare: For six weeks before your appointment, please refrain from using active skincare products like Retinoids, AHAs, or chemical peels, as they can make the skin sensitive.

  • Keloid scarring & Vitamin A: If you are prone to keloid scarring or have used Vitamin A (Accutane, Retinol, etc.) in the past six months, this treatment may not be suitable for you.

After Your Appointment:
Essential Aftercare for Optimal Healing - Correct aftercare is crucial to ensuring your brow tattoo heals beautifully and lasts as long as possible. Please follow these instructions carefully:

Your brows will take up to six weeks to fully heal, with the first 10 days being the most critical for achieving the best results.

  • Avoid Getting Them Wet: For the first 7-10 days, do not soak your brows in water. Keep them as dry as possible when showering or washing your face.

  • Keep Them Clean: While you should avoid soaking them, it’s still important to gently clean your brows to prevent infection and ensure proper healing.

  • Cleaning Instructions: Gently clean them 1-2 times daily using a fragrance-free makeup wipe or a warm, soapy water-dampened face cloth.

Do not rub—only pat gently to avoid disturbing the healing skin. Always pat dry with a clean tissue.

  • Aftercare Ointment: After the first 48 hours, apply a small ‘pea-sized amount’ of the provided aftercare ointment 1-2 times daily until your aftercare tube is complete & the brows are past the peeling stage to aid healing.

Use clean hands and apply with a cotton tip to keep the area free from bacteria.

  • Avoid Sweating & Sun Exposure: For the first week, avoid intense exercise and direct sun exposure. Sweating can push ink out of the skin, leading to patchy or faded results. Sun exposure can cause premature fading and irritation. After your brows have passed the peeling stage, apply a small amount of sunscreen to your brows daily to prevent fading!

  • Peeling & Flaking: Around day five, you may notice peeling or flaking as your skin regenerates, revealing a lighter, softer brow colour beneath.

DO NOT pick, peel, or scratch the scabs—this can lead to uneven, patchy results. Let them fall off naturally to ensure the best retention.

Following these steps will ensure your brows heal beautifully, giving you long-lasting, flawless results! Once your brows are fully healed, you can go back to your normal routine, and they’ll be gorgeous and long-lasting!

Long-Term Maintenance

As your brows fade over time, you may notice a slight shift in pigment tone. This is normal and can be corrected with a touch-up session. To prolong the longevity of your brow tattoo:

  • Use SPF daily to protect against fading.

  • Avoid exfoliating treatments or harsh skincare products on the brow area.

  • Schedule a colour refresh every 12-24 months to maintain their vibrancy.

Who is Not Suitable for Brow Tattooing?

Brow tattooing may not be suitable for individuals who:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Have uncontrolled diabetes

  • Are taking blood thinners or Accutane

  • Are prone to keloid scarring or poor wound healing

  • Have active skin conditions near the brow area (eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis)

  • Are undergoing chemotherapy (consultation with a doctor is required)

  • Have had recent Botox or fillers near the brows (must wait 2-4 weeks)

  • Have a history of allergic reactions to tattoo pigments or numbing agents

If you have any medical concerns, please consult your doctor before booking.

Understanding the Different Brow Techniques

While The Beauty Collective currently offers Ombré Brows only, here’s an overview of how each technique is performed, what makes them unique, and who they are most suitable for.

Soft Ombré Brows

Technique: This style is created using a machine shading method, where pigment is implanted in soft layers using a pixelated technique. The front of the brow remains airy and light, gradually building to a soft saturation toward the tail.

End Result: A very natural, misty finish—like a light brow tint or softly filled-in makeup.

Best For: Clients who want a subtle enhancement without harsh lines. Great for those with minimal makeup routines or first-time brow tattoo clients.

Regular Ombré Brows

Technique: Also performed with a machine, but with increased pigment layering and denser shading. The gradient is still present but the overall depth of colour is more saturated.

End Result: A more defined and filled-in appearance compared to the soft ombré. Still natural, but with more makeup-like structure.

Best For: Clients who regularly fill in their brows and want a long-lasting, polished look.

Microblading

Technique: A manual method using a handheld tool with tiny needles arranged in a blade formation. The artist creates individual strokes by slicing into the skin and depositing pigment, mimicking the look of natural hairs.

End Result: Fine, hair-like lines throughout the brow. Very natural and subtle when healed.

Best For: Clients with normal to dry skin and minimal texture.
✖️ Not ideal for oily, sensitive, or mature skin as the strokes may blur or fade unevenly over time.

Nano Brows

Technique: A machine-based version of microblading, using a single ultra-fine needle to implant pigment in hair-stroke patterns. It offers greater precision with less trauma to the skin compared to manual tools.

End Result: Crisp, clean strokes with better retention and smoother healing than microblading.

Best For: More versatile across different skin types, including mildly oily or sensitive skin.

Nano Combo Brows

Technique: A combination technique using nano hair strokes at the front of the brow and machine shading through the body and tail. This blends the softness of strokes with the depth and definition of shading.

End Result: A hybrid look — hair-like strokes for realism at the front, with added fullness through the rest of the brow.

Best For: Clients wanting the best of both worlds — natural texture with more structured definition.
